Asbel rekkaiou

Asbel using Rekkaiou.

Asbel Lhant (アスベル・ラント Asuberu Ranto) is the main protagonist of Tales of Graces and is one of the playable characters in ACS.

Asbel moves, attacks, and his fighting style are the same as they are in Tales of Graces. Asbel is able to change his sword styles during battle, between Assault Artes style and Burst Artes style.

Asbel's Assault Artes style is much more easier to use than his Burst Artes style due to the fact you can use the A Button and the control pad, making battles with Asbel much more relieving for beginners.

Asbel has an Accelerate Mode, called Accel Force. In this mode, a wisp of purple fire will circle around him, hitting enemies. Also, in this mode, Asbel gains access to new attacks, such as Malik Beam.

Asbel uses the Chain Capacity (CC) System, so each attack uses up a certain amount of CC points. After a combo consisting of two or more Artes, the CC will increase by one. When it reaches 14, it will decrease to 9 instead of 15.

Character Facts[]

  • Asbel has a total of 520 HP.
  • Asbel is one of the many characters that Anibache has custom sprited.
  • Whenever Asbel and Sophie Lhant battle each other, the two will converse shortly before fighting.
    • If Sophie wins, Malik Caesars will appear to add his thoughts to the conversation.
    • If Asbel wins, he will ask Sophie if she is "okay" after the battle.
  • Whenever Asbel fights either Anise Tatlin or Nanaly Fletch, he will have a special introductory quote.

General Tips & Usage[]

  • Asbel can switch between two fighting styles: Assault Artes style and Drawn Arte Style.
    • In Assault Artes style, Asbel's attacks follow a directional-contextual progression. Each direction at each step in the combo is a different attack.
    • In Drawn Arte Style, Asbel looses the ability to dash and jump, replaced by sidestepping. Also, he cannot use the artes available in the Assault Artes style, but gains new ones (specific to the Drawn Sword Arte Style).
  • It is possible to incorporate Style Shifts directly into a combo.
  • Asbel's Accelerate Mode, Accel Force, is accessed by pressing 'F' during a combo.
    • In this mode, a wisp of purple fire will circle around him, hitting enemies.
    • You can enter Accelerate Mode even after you summon Malik Caesars. As the attack ends, press F.
    • You can enter in Accelerate Mode after you perform a mystic arte.
  • Asbel also boasts an alternate Accelerate Mode, Grow Force, that is activated the same way as Accel Force. However, the following conditions must be satisfied:
  1. Asbel must have less than 80 HP.
  2. Asbel must have 2 full Overlimit bars.
  3. Asbel must have used many TP-consuming Artes during the battle.
  • A hidden counter resets to 0 at the start of every round. It increases by 1 when using Shiden Mettenshou, by 2 when using Haddoumeppu, and by 3 when using Kyokkourenge. Chained versions and Genma Shoureppa are excluded. The counter must be equal to at least 10 for Grow Force to activate. It does not reset when Grow Force is activated.
  • The effects of Grow Force are :
    • The purple wisp will be recolored green.
    • Asbel will recover 100 HP.
    • Asbel will gain 108 TP (a full bar being 145).
    • Grow Force otherwise behaves exactly like Accel Force, including the use of only 1 Overlimit bar. It can be activated as many times as needed per round, providing the conditions are met again.
  • Asbel takes extra damage (x1.2) from Wind Elemental attacks, while he takes less (x0.9) from Water and Light Elemental attacks.
  • Asbel uses the Chain Capacity (CC) System.
  • Asbel will often become invincible while performing certain artes.
