Final Cross

Guy using Zeppa Juujishou.

Gailardia Galan Gardios, better known as Guy Cecil (ガイ・セシル Gai Seshiru), is a playable character from Tales of the Abyss and is Luke fone Fabre's best friend. Guy is a kind and hard-working young man that serves in the house of Fabre. He is also somewhat a charmer, and he seems to know exactly what to say, often resulting in women swooning over him, much to his dismay due to his gynophobia.

Guy fights using the Sigmund Style, wielding a sword in his right-hand and its sheath in his left. The Sigmund Style is described as a quicker, swifter version of the Albert Style, the sword style Luke use. In comparison to the Albert Style, the Sigmund Style hits weaker but faster and more times. Thus, Guy has artes like Akisazame and Rekkuuzan. Combined with Guy's naturally high agility and fast regular attack speed, Guy can deal damage very quickly and easily avoid enemy attacks.

Guy is one of the best character for beginners to use but is also recommended for veteran players who excel at using long combos.

Character Facts[]

  • Guy has 520 HP.
    NLKL Pose

Natalia strikes a pose after beating Guy's enemies with her mystic arte.

  • He has only one victory pose which is also his taunt animation.
  • Guy enters the battle by dropping out of nowhere.
  • He is the fastest moving character in ACS, especially during his Overlimit.
  • Special dialogue scenes will ocur when he is faced with other Tales of the Abyss characters.
  • Natalia L.K. Lanvaldear supports Guy by using different artes with her arrows.
    • If Natalia's Mystic Arte deals the final blow, she will perform her victory pose and quote instead of Guy.

General Tips & Usage[]

  • Guy can be best described as a grounded rushdown character. With the fastest run speed in the game and a fantastic cameo arte, Guy can be in his opponent's face in the blink of an eye. To top it off, he has an incredibly small TTS on most of his moves, particularly Kogahazan, Dankuuken, and Rekkuuzan. If he needs to play it safe, he can zone with Majinken and Shinkuuhazan.
  • His primary flaw is his low damage output. When building his combos, you have to keep careful watch of your hit counter to maximize your potential.
  • Guy has the best movespeed in ACS, an above average HP, an average jump height, damage output and dash length.
  • Guy's defense against Guard Break is average as compared to other ACS characters.
  • Guy receives 30% more damage from Earth Elemental attacks and 10% less damage from Fire and Water Elemental Attacks. (Please refer to this page for more information on ACS Elements).
  • Guy can use all the basic movement abilities available to most ACS characters.
    • Guy's Double Jump exceeds the top of the screen.
    • Guy's High Jump is lower than his normal jump.
    • Guy's Forward Step has good range and speed, unlike his Backward Leap.
    • Guy's Backstep has no movement delays and can be used repeatedly to evade attacks.
  • Guy has a standard 3-hit ground melee combo (A, B, C) and only one aerial melee attack (A or B or C).
    • His Melee Attack B & C have a slightly longer range than his Melee Attack A.
  • Guy can taunt enemies by pressing E.
    • If the taunt animation is successfully executed, Guy's TP will slightly increase.
  • Guy can use FOF Changes by pressing a directional button and the D or E button (e.g. →D) as long as the combo counter is 2 hits and above.
    • He cannot chain FOF Changes after any Mystic or other certain strike artes.
    • He cannot chain 2 FOF Changes together unless he is in Overlimit and fulfill certain conditions.
  • During Overlimit, Guy's already fast movespeed greatly increases.
  • Guy doesn't have any artes usable in mid-air.
  • His chain order consists of:
    • Melee > Base > Arcane > Arcane > Any FOF Change > Mystic
    • Normally, Guy can only chain Arcane to Arcane artes once per combo.
    • During Overlimit, his chain order becomes:
      • Melee > Base > Arcane > Arcane > FOF Change Base (D) > FOF Change Arcane (E) > Mystic

Advanced Tips & Combos[]

Battle Strategy[]

General Use Combos[]

Melee Combo 1[]

  • (Melee Attack A) X 3 > Kogahazan > (Melee Attack A) X 3 [Note 1] > Kogahazan > Majin Souhazan > Byakko Shousenga > Ryuusou Senkuuha > Rekkuuzan [Note 2] > Byakko Shousenga > Zeppa Juujishou > Any FoF you want [Note 3]
  • Quick Input Version:
  • A > A > A > ↓ A > A > A > A > ↓ A > ↓ ↓ C > ↓ ← → C > ↑ D > ↓ ← B> ↓ ← → C >↓ → D> FoF
    • Notes:
      • Note 1: There is a small time in which you can restart the chain order so it's preferable to mash the command.
      • Note 2: A little timing is required at that part too. You don't need to mash the command if you catch that timing.
      • Note 3: It is recommended to use a FoF that knocks the enemy down and that has a good damage. Thus, Zeshou Hyougajin.
  • Thats Guy's bread and butter, it sorta uses some TP. If you avoid using TP consuming arcanes then the use is minimal, it deals a good chunk of damage and can be continued using OVL against a wall. I have more but thats enough for you :D

Melee Combo 2[]

  • Melee Attack A X3 > Kogahazan [Note 1] > Majin Getsueika > Slightly move closer to the enemy > Melee Attack A X3 > Kogahazan > Majin Souhazan X2 > Maou Engekiha > Houou Tenshouku
  • Quick Input Version:
  • A > A > A > ↓ A > ↓ → C > → > A > A > A > ↓ A > ↓ ↓ C > ↓ ↓ C > → D > ↓ → ← E
  • Total Hits = 45. Damage is about 1/4 of Kakashi Scarecrow's HP.
    • Requirements & Notes:
      • TP for FOF Changes and Mystic Arte.
      • Note 1: Use Kogahazan simultaneously with the hit from Guy's 3rd melee attack.
  • One of Guy's easy combos but packs a lot of power. Only drawback is that it costs some TP to use.
  • Contributed by: Minarie 10:21, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Melee Combo 3[]

  • Melee Attack A X3 > Kogahazan [Note 1] > Melee Attack A X3 > Kogahazan [Note 1] > Byakko Shousenga X2 > Ryuusou Senkuuha > Rekkuuzan [Note 2] > Kokuu Renshoujin [Note 3] > Zeppa Juujishou > [Note 4]
  • Quick Input Version:
  • A > A > A > ↓ A > A > A > A > ↓ A > ↓ ← → C > ↓ ← → C > ↑ D > ↓ ← B > ↓ → ← C > ↓ → D
  • Total Hits =50. Damage is about 1/4 of Kakashi Scarecrow's HP.
  • Requirements & Notes.
    • TP for some artes used.
    • Note 1: Use Kogahazan simultaneously with the hit from Guy's 3rd melee attack.
    • Note 2: Use Rekkuuzan as the green ball from Ryuusou Senkuuha disappears. This is necessary in connecting Kokuu Renshoujin to Zeppa Juujishou.
    • Note 3: If Note 2 is executed properly, Guy will land first before the enemy after Rekkuuzan. You have to use Kokuu Renshoujin before the enemy lands on the ground. This is necessary in connecting Kokuu Renshoujin to Zeppa Juujishou.
    • Note 4: You can still continue the combo after this by using Overlimit.
  • Guy's main long combo. Not very difficult to use although you may need to mash buttons when using FoFs.
  • Contributed by: Minarie 10:21, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Long Range + Knockback Combo[]

  • Majinken [Note 1] > Zekkuu Majingeki > Shishisenkou
  • Quick Input Version:
  • ↓ → A > ↓ ← C > → ← → B
    • Note 1: Keep spamming Majinken until the enemy is in mid-range.
  • Guy's ground long range combo. Pretty effective against AI especially against Barbatos Goetia X2.
  • Use Rekkuuzan if the enemy jumps in mid-air to attack. Also, don't forget that you can reset the combo after using Rekkuuzan if the combo counter does not exceed 6 hits.
  • Contributed by: Minarie 10:21, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Highest Combo[]

  • Melee Attack A X3 > Kogahazan [Note 1] > Melee Attack A X3 > Kogahazan [Note 1] > Byakko Shousenga X2 > Ryuusou Senkuuha > Rekkuuzan [Note 2] > Kokuu Renshoujin [Note 3] > Zeppa Juujishou > Ryuusou Senkuuha > Overlimit Lv1 [Note 4] > Natalia: "Nope" or Pierces Line [Note 5] > Melee Attack B [Note 6] > Kogetsusen [Note 7] > Dash Towards Opponent > Melee Attack A X3 > Souryuu Rengazan > Kokuu Renshoujin > Zeppa Juujishou > Hyougetsushousen > Shikou Bakuraijin > Overlimit Lv1 [Note 8] > Natalia: Any Support Arte [Note 9] > Melee Attack A X3 > Rekkuuzan > Akisazame > Ryuusou Senkuuha [Note 10] > Neppa Senpuujin > Natalia: Noble Roar
  • Quick Input Version:
  • A > A > A > ↓ A > A > A > A > ↓ A > ↓ ← → C > ↓ ← → C > ↑ D > ↓ ← B > ↓ → ← C > ↓ → D > ↑ D > F > ← F > B > → F > →→ > A > A > A > ↓ ← → B > ↓ → ← C > ↓ → D > ← D > ↑ E > F > ← F > A > A > A > ↓ ← B > → ← → A > ↑ D > → F > ↓ ↓ E
  • Total Hits = 148. Damage is about 75% of Kakashi Scarecrow's HP.
    • Requirements:
      Tales_of_ACS_v5.503_Guy_Cecil_148_Hits_Combo

Tales of ACS v5.503 Guy Cecil 148 Hits Combo

Guy Cecil's combo at 148 hits.

      • Full TP.
      • Overlimit Gauge set at Lv2.
      • Enemy is against a wall.
    • Notes:
      • Note 4: The enemy must be close enough to get blowed away by the burst. Use Overlimit as soon as possible, spam the F butto if you have to.
      • Note 5: These two artes are the only ones that can chain in the combo while dropping the Overlimit Gauge enough for another Overlimit Lv1 late in the combo.
      • Note 6: Only Melee attack B or C will work. Melee attack A will not reach the enemy.
      • Note 7: Arte must be done quickly in order to Natalia be the last one to hit the enemy. Use the shortcut for faster and easier input.
      • Note 8: If the above steps are done correctly, just before the enemy lands Guy will be able to use another Overlimit to extend the combo further.
      • Note 9: Depends on which arte Natalia uses, you may need to change the combo. If Natalia uses a 1-hit arte, you won't be able to use Noble Roar. It's best if Natalia uses Brave Feed.
      • Note 10: Quick input in order to this FoF to be possible. You may notice that the enemy will ait-tech but the enemy will not be able to block.
  • Guy's highest hit combo. Can still get more hits if Brave Feed was used by Natalia on the last part instead of Kronos Raid.
  • This is a compilation of all the capabilities of Guy's combos as seen on youtube. Minarie 19:55, July 22, 2011 (UTC)
